The built-in bioreactor for operation in rail vehicles is an example of specially developed waste water purification equipment. In small adapted purification equipment, comprising mechanical pre-purification, an aerobic packed bed with nitrification and subsequent hygienization, the waste water accumulated in a train toilet is biologically purified and hygienized already whilst the train is moving. The equipment thus replaces the cost-intensive receiver tank system which requires the waste water to be drawn off every two days and purified at a municipal facility.
■ The use of chemical additives or other operating ■ means is at no stage required by our bioreactors
Several European railways have realized the benefits of this globally patented system and are already using it on a large scale.
