The biological toilet system SANICO of AKW A+V Protec GmbH consists of a sanitary unit with an integrated small sewage treatment plant.
The sanitary water is purified on-site inside the container and can afterwards be drained to the environment ensuring regulatory compliance (compliance with EU 12556 waste water classes H); it can be collected in the container, if draining to the environment is not possible (e.g. mining); or it can be re-used as process water for flushing the toilet.
The sludge residues are disposed at intervals greater than approx 4 – 12 months (according to the respective design). There are no high costs due to a periodical extraction by suction at frequent intervals or due to consumables, as it is the case with chemical toilets.
The minimum operating requirement is a power connection.

SANICO is used at all locations with a missing waste water connection or at locations where a waste water connection makes no sense because of economic and ecological terms.
